Today, an acquaintance invited me a homemade soup he made. I love soups, they are uplifting and warm, especially on a windy, cold day. In my country there are many kinds of soups, but I am most fond of the traditional one I ate as a child: the vegetable soup. It is a yellow soup made of many vegetables such as, carrots, potatoes, yellow pumpkin, … , and last but no least corn.

There is a great saying goes that " Roma is not built in one day! " Though this saying mainly tell us that we should be patient to do everything, the name Roma always gives me an imagination of a big city with numerous people in ancient time. Fortunately, we have a city as famous as Roma in the old time. Maybe you have gussesed what city I will introduce to you. It's Changan, but also is known as Xi'an. YOu can imagine that there were over 1 million people lived in Xi'an 1500 years ago, and the number today is around 12 million. The rich history left a lot of marvelous heritages for us. Every year, people around the wrold crowd to this international city. They bring their culture here and take Chinese culture back to their countries. Culture is the best bridge between peopel from different countries. This makes Xi'an to be a city features both modern and historical achievements.

Yesterday, we had a safety drill at school. It happened suddenly in the evening, and the alarm rang loudly. I was in class with my friend, and both of us were very surprised. We didn’t know the drill would happen at that time, so the sound of the alarm made everyone nervous. Right after the alarm rang, we expected an evacuation announcement. However, no instructions were given for a while, so the classroom became noisy. Some students were worried, and others were confused because they were not sure what to do. I talked quietly with my friend while waiting, but we both felt a little anxious. Finally, the evacuation order was announced, and everyone started to move. We used the stairs and walked out of the school building. The teachers guided us outside, and they made sure everyone moved calmly and safely. When we reached the yard, the teachers gave us water and emergency food. The emergency food was gomoku rice. It could be eaten without heating, but I decided to warm it up in the microwave. After heating it, the rice smelled nice and tasted very good. Many students were trying it for the first time, so everyone talked about how it tasted. Even though the drill made us nervous at first, I think it was a good experience. If something real happens in the future, we will know what to do and how to stay calm. I hope we will never face a real emergency, but I’m glad we practiced together.

I am currently working on a project at my university where I am creating a plan for a tour in Hong Kong. The presentation day has not come yet, so my partner and I are now making slides and thinking about the details of our tour. We are working in pairs, and several pairs are taking part in this program. If our tour is selected as a good one, it will actually become a real product and be sold as an official tour. Also, if we win the first prize or another award, the program will pay for our hotel and flight tickets, and we will be able to go to Hong Kong. This is my first time joining a project like this since becoming a university student, but my partner and I are doing our best. I really hope that our hard work will lead to a good result. Even if our tour is not selected, I want to feel proud that I joined this project and worked hard. I believe this experience will surely help me in future activities.
